Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Director of Maintenance at Transport Continental, Inc. in Pharr, TX. The Director of Maintenance will oversee the maintenance and repair operations semi trucks and trailers. This leadership role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in truck maintenance, a strategic mindset, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. The Director of Maintenance will ensure that our fleet operates at peak performance, minimizing downtime and maximizing reliability.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Strategy and Management
- Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance programs for Class 8 trucks, ensuring optimal fleet performance while adhering to the highest safety standards and industry regulations.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance maintenance processes, utilizing data-driven insights to improve operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of maintenance technicians and staff, fostering a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
- Champion training and development initiatives to ensure the team stays current with emerging technologies, industry best practices, and compliance standards.
Budget and Resource Optimization
- Strategically manage the maintenance department’s budget, ensuring accurate forecasting, cost efficiency, and detailed financial reporting to support company goals.
- Leverage financial data to optimize resource allocation, reduce operational costs, and drive sustainable long-term growth.
Vendor and Supplier Partnerships
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with parts suppliers, service providers, and equipment manufacturers, ensuring access to high-quality, cost-effective maintenance solutions.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements to drive value and performance, while securing reliable supply chains for parts and services.
Fleet Performance Optimization
- Continuously monitor and analyze fleet performance metrics, leveraging data to implement innovative strategies that improve truck reliability, fuel efficiency, and overall operational performance.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and technologies to proactively address maintenance issues, reducing downtime and enhancing fleet productivity.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and environmental requirements, safeguarding the company's compliance reputation.
- Implement and oversee robust audit processes to maintain regulatory standards and prepare for compliance reviews.
Crisis Management and Emergency Response
- Develop and execute emergency maintenance protocols, ensuring swift and effective responses to unexpected breakdowns, minimizing operational disruptions, and safeguarding fleet integrity.
Safety Leadership and Assurance
- Foster and enforce a strong safety-first culture within the maintenance team, conducting regular safety audits and ensuring compliance with all safety protocols to minimize workplace hazards.
- Lead proactive risk management initiatives, identifying potential safety threats and mitigating risks before they impact operations.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Stay at the forefront of advancements in truck maintenance technologies, integrating cutting-edge tools and innovative practices to enhance fleet maintenance operations and drive continuous improvement.
- Act as a strategic thought leader, bringing forward creative solutions to address evolving maintenance challenges and future-proof the department's operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in truck maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of truck maintenance, repair processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.

Work Environment
The Director of Maintenance will primarily work in an office environment in Pharr, Texas but will frequent the Laredo maintenance facilities and truck yards. The role may require occasional travel to vendor sites, industry conferences, and other company locations.
